‘How to’ Join Riverdale Presbyterian Church: All who proclaim Jesus as Lord and who would desire to be an active part of our worshiping/ministry community are welcome! To join simply note your interest when registering attendance (please leave a phone number where the Pastor can reach you), or contact the pastor at 301.927.0477. ‘How to’ Become an Officer of Riverdale Presbyterian Church: Our Officers are members who are elected by the congregation on an annual basis. Our three Boards are Session (spiritual leadership and oversight of the church), Deacons (ministry to shut-ins and those in need) and Property Management (care for our building). Officers are selected by a Nominating Committee, but volunteers are always a delight. Training is offered to all officers. If you’d like to become an officer, contact the Pastor. ‘How to’ Join a Ministry Committee: We have eight standing ministry committees: -Budget, Finance and Stewardship that plans for the use of money for investments and operations. - Personnel that oversees church staff.
‘How to’ become a Worship Leader: Worship Leaders assist the pastor in the leading of our worship on a weekly rotating basis. All are trained by the pastor. All (adults and youth, members and non’members) are welcome to become Worship Leader! ‘How to’ Join one of our Choirs: All our choirs are volunteers and all are open to participate. We have a Chancel Choir that practices on Thursday evenings , Youth Choirs that practice during youth worship on Sundays and a Bell Choir that practices on Monday nights. Contact either our Music-Director or Bell Choir Director, if interested. ‘How to’ Become a Sunday School Teacher: We have two teachers per each youth Sunday School class and three adult classes. Contact our Educator if your interested in teaching (training is provided). She’d be delighted to
hear from you! ‘How to’ Become Active in our Sunday School: Our Sunday School Classes do not meet during the summer months, but from September through May we have classes for all ages – including three healthy and well attended adult classes. All are happy to welcome new attenders. For information and introduction to a class, contact our Christian Educator. ‘How to’ Become Pastoral Care Assistant: It is not easy to become a Pastoral Care Assistant. But for those who would like to assist the Pastor in hospital visitation, provide care for those losing spouse/partner or for crises intervention, training is available.
