Our SHELTER is available year round for families of the surrounding community in need.  We welcome those referred to us by Help-by-Phone of PG County, but we also receive local referrals as well.  The shelter is a one room apartment with cooking facilities and full bath across the hall.  Residents are allowed to remain for up to five weeks and the Church helps with financial aid for apartment deposits.  About 10 members of our Church work at and oversee this ministry. 

Our SAFE HAVEN SHELTER MINISTRY runs one week each year when we welcome homeless men to our building for a hot-meal, shower, warm bed and breakfast the next morning.  Approximately 15 local churches of P.G. County take part in this ministry.  Each church agrees to open its doors to the homeless during the coldest months of the winter for one week.  Our week is the 2nd full week of January.  Almost 60 members of our Church assist at Safe Haven.  Riverdale Presbyterian Church was one of the founding churches of this ministry that began 10 years ago.
